Bollywood Stars with Their Mom

There’s a pretty famous saying “Behind every successful man is a woman” and more often than not, it is the mother who is the reason behind a successful man. And it is equally true for all the super successful ladies out there. Some of our Bollywood stars are influenced by their mothers quite heavily.

The World's Biggest Gold Mines

The price of gold has more than doubled in the past five years, creating considerable interest in trading the precious metal. Roughly $75 billion is traded in the London bullion market every day.

Despite demand, gold is extremely scarce. By some estimates, all of the gold ever mined in the history of the world would fill only two Olympic-size swimming pools. Given the U.S. Geological Society estimates that just 51,000 tons of global gold reserves remain in the ground, gold mining remains a lucrative business.

Plucked from the Earth after 2,000 years

Excavations in China have unearthed a stunning new collection of 2,000-year-old terracotta warriors and hundreds of other artefacts.

Archaeologists unveiled 120 new terracotta warriors yesterday at the Qin Shihuang Unesco World Heritage site in Shaanxi province. The current excavation, which started in 2009, is the third at the site following two previous digs which were carried out in 1974 and 1985. The artefacts in western China were buried with the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty in the 3rd century BC.

The latest discoveries include never-before-seen items, including war drums and a dramatic painted shield. In total, more than 310 small pieces have been newly excavated as well as 12 clay horses.

The third excavation covers about 200 square metres in pit number one - the largest and the most visited of the Terracotta Warriors And Horses Museum. More than 1,000 of the life-size statues, each with unique facial expressions and hair styles, have already been discovered at the site.

They were originally put in place to guard the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. The fierce figures are among the best-known images of China.

Russia Plans to Open Space Hotel by 2016

A Russian company by the name of Orbital Technologies plans to build the world's first space hotel as a commercial alternative to the International Space Station. The hotel which is officially called Commercial Space Station will orbit at a height of some 350 kilometers above the earth and will have room for seven guest in four cabins with the most incredible views you're likely to get out of a window. The images in this gallery are all computer generated, of course.

Passengers will be taken aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket. While floating above the earth, guests will be able to watch TV and surf the internet. In the gravity free space cabins guests will have the option to sleep either vertically or horizontally. Washing will be done with wet-wipes, and toilets will use flowing air to move waste through the system and waste water will be recycled and filtered along with the air. Food prepared on earth will be freeze dried before being carried to the hotel. Also alcohol will be strictly prohibited.

A five-day package, not including the two day trip in both directions aboard a Soyuz rocket, will cost close to a million dollars. Orbital Technologies says that the design and development of the space station is underway, and it is expected to launch in 2016.
